Principal’s Message-I hope you all are looking forward to the New Year as much as I am! We have a lot of exciting and rewarding activities planned for our students in the next months, and the year is going fast. Thanks to our PTA, our staff, and especially our teachers for all the extras they provide. Our Sixth Grade had a fantastic week at Outdoor Science School in the San Bernardino Mountains, and we hope to continue this outstanding educational experience for all of our students as they reach Sixth Grade. Check out the pictures on the www.woodsboro.pylusd.org website.

Principal’s Message

Thank you! It’s the time of year when I make it a point to give thanks to all the people who give so much of their own time, talents, and energy to make our school and our children’s lives better. Thank you to all of the Woodsboro parents, volunteers, and staff, who give extra to help with all the class parties, school events, and PTA fundraisers!

6th Grade Science Camp

Thanks to the efforts of many parents, teachers, staff, PTA, and other volunteers, we are now much closer to our goal of sending every 6th Grade student to Outdoor Science Camp. Woodsboro students have participated in this hands-on, educational program for many years—in fact some of our parents attended when they were 6th graders. Thank you for continuing to support this educational program through your participation in our many fundraising efforts, such as the Winter Grams that are on sale now. Science Camp is a tradition that all our students look forward to as they approach 6th grade.  Your continued efforts will help make it a reality.

Charitable Contributions

Many individuals and business owners are looking for worthwhile charitable deductions at this time of the year.  Woodsboro Elementary School qualifies as a not-for-profit organization for charitable contributions. We are a state educational institution, a part of the Placentia Unified School District (PYLUSD), which is considered a political subdivision of the State of California. Donations and private grants made to schools are tax deductible under these statutes.  If you wish to make a monetary donation, the check should be written to PYLUSD with Glenknoll in the memo line. All of your donation will come directly to our school. You can also designate the funds for a specific purpose, such as Science Camp, classroom technology, science equipment, the arts, or other areas of interest. Contact me directly for more specifics. If you donate, you will receive a letter from the PYLUSD Board of Trustees confirming your donation amount. This letter may be used as verification for tax purposes.  Contact your tax advisor for more information.

Principal’s Message:

I want to thank all the staff, parents, and students for our great first Trimester. Students have worked hard in their classrooms and had fun as well. Our Book Fair, Red Ribbon Week, and Fall Festival were all a great success, and I want to especially thank our students for their great participation and behavior! I would also like to thank all the volunteers that made the events go so smoothly.

We have had some changes to our traffic lanes that have made drop-off and pick-up more efficient and safe. Remember, no drop off and pick up on the street--Woodsboro westbound--wait until you are in the school “valet” area to open the doors. Always stay in your vehicle and pull all the way forward. The line moves quickly if everyone cooperates. Cell phone usage is dangerous and illegal while driving, including while in the school parking lot.

Finally we are expecting some big changes to the look of our school during the month of November. Our long-awaited PTA sponsored Marquee is being installed and will be up and running by the end of the month. In addition, our District is renovating our landscaping at the front of the school. Some diseased trees will be replaced, and there will be fresh plantings in many areas. There will also be improvements to the drainage in the student lunch area. We expect the work to start on November 14 and take about 2 weeks to complete.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to all new and returning Woodsboro families to another fun and exciting year at The Hive!! We have many programs and events planned for the coming year.  You will receive information each month in this PTA sponsored BEE Mail, so make sure the school office has your most current email address. We have had a very smooth opening of school this year, thanks to all the hard work of our staff and the help of our parents. Our school maintenance staff, Jose Serna and Eddie Hernandez, did an outstanding job of getting our school extra clean and ready this year!

For the safety of all of our students, please remember to follow all traffic regulations in our parking lot and on the streets around our school. Remember to only drop off and pick up students in the “valet” zone all the way in the parking lot. Teachers are on duty in this area, and will watch out for the safety of your children. Please use the crosswalk to cross Woodsboro and to bring your children in from the parking lot. Please observe speed limits at all times. Over the next several weeks we will have increased traffic enforcement before and after school. In addition to our shared concern for safety, we do not want anyone to receive an expensive traffic citation.
