February 2017

Principal’s Message

Thanks to all of your support and assistance, Woodsboro survived some of the heaviest rains we have seen in years! The storms actually benefited us in several ways. Our new landscaping is getting off to a great start with lots of natural watering, and our 6th Graders had some incredible snow to enjoy during their week at Outdoor Science School in early January.  Our major landscaping project was part of a district-wide effort, renewing the landscaping at several schools each year.  Even more important, as part of our project, we were able to fix the drainage in our lunch table area. The workers replaced a 20 foot section of 24 inch drainage pipe that had been clogged with tree roots. In the past, even light rains had flooded this area for days and even sent water into our building. After the drainage work, our lunch area drains quickly, as it should. If you know a School Board Member or maintenance staff member, be sure to thank them for making this a priority.

Woodsboro is well known as a positive learning community, and we are proud to support several “student” teachers each semester. The following teacher candidates from Cal State Fullerton will be working in our classes with our Mentoring Teachers:

Christy Namking will be with Rachel Friedrichs, 5th grade GATE

Liz Judd will be with Janeen Hill, Kindergarten

Sandy Kung will be working with Jennifer Johns, 2nd/3rd combo

Any 3rd through 6th grade student in our school district, whether or not their school site holds a Spelling Bee, may be eligible to participate in the District Spelling Bee on April 22 by taking a Qualification Test. Parents of interested students may register for the Qualification Tests via the REACH online registration form.
